Papers & research
The ESRB publishes two series of papers featuring research on its activities: the ESRB Occasional Paper Series and the ESRB Working Paper Series.
ESRB Occasional Papers spotlight analytical and policy work conducted within ESRB expert groups and by ESRB member institutions. ESRB Working Papers, on the other hand, can be submitted by external researchers. The Advisory Scientific Committee selects papers with a view to collating high-quality research on systemic risk and macroprudential policy. This body of research helps inform the ESRB’s policymaking.
The annual Ieke van den Burg Prize, awarded by the Advisory Scientific Committee, recognises outstanding research conducted by young scholars on a topic related to the ESRB’s mission to prevent and mitigate systemic risks to financial stability.
The ESRB also runs the Alberto Giovannini Programme for Data Science, which aims to develop novel analytical tools and to foster collaboration between the policymaking and research communities. It utilises the information contained in the vast sets of granular and transaction-level data available to the ESRB.
